IBA has assembled and trained an experienced team of managers, engineers, physicists and technicians together with leading facility design consultants and building contractors to provide comprehensive and professional project leadership. Our team of experts has accumulated over a century of experience by working together with the leading companies in the different industries it takes to specify, design, finance, construct, install, test and operate particle therapy facilities.
A project of this scope, complexity, and ultimate precision requires experienced, "can-do", "hands-on" project management. The IBA Project Management Team becomes involved in the process very early in the discussions, and remains engaged for the duration, with consultants/engineers working together with the architectural and construction teams up to 1.5 years prior to equipment installation, ensuring that everything is designed and constructed according to requirements along the way and the finished product is ready to accept the equipment.
Having built hundreds of accelerators over its 20 year history, including 7 of the 13 operational clinical particle therapy sites in the world today, IBA's cumulative experience in project management has grown and developed into the most mature network on the market. Our experienced personnel have encountered and handled many of the myriad challenges one might expect in such a complex project, at sites on every continent on the globe. Each new particle therapy project we have built has helped produce new, competent project leaders, as well as cross-trained project team members - ready for the next project.

At the end of 2004, IBA announced that treatment had started with its proton therapy system at the WanJie Tumor Hospital in Zibo, China. This performance represents a substantial gain for the community of proton therapy users, cutting the time between the order and the beginning of the clinical treatment. It is the first proton therapy system in the world to be completed in less than 3 years.
