Testosterone is a steroid hormone synthesized from 17α-hydroxy progesterone by the enzymes 17,20-lyase and 17β-hydroxysteroid deshydrogenase in the gonads of both males and females, although small amounts are also secreted by the adrenal glands. It is the principal male sex hormone and an anabolic steroid. It plays an important role in the stimulation and the development of masculine characteristics by its fixation of androgen receptors.

Our Technology HTRF

HTRF® technology principle:
Truly homogeneous functional assays
FRET (Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer) is based on the transfer of energy between two fluorophores – a donor and an acceptor – when in close proximity. Molecular interactions between biomolecules can be assessed by coupling each partner with a fluorescent label and by detecting the level of energy transfer.
